Drosophila melanogasterGenAge entry for ND75 (Drosophila melanogaster)

Gene information (ID: 1898)

Symbol
ND75
Name
NADH:ubiquinone reductase 75kD subunit precursor
Organism
Drosophila melanogaster (AnAge)

Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing

Observations
Mitochondrial perturbation through a weak muscle-specific RNA interference of ND75 increases lifespan and preserves locomotory ability. Contrarly, a strong RNA interference of ND75 in the muscle resulted in a developmental arrest around 2 days after egg deposition, with severe myonuclear disintegration and a severely reduced lifespan.
% change in max lifespan
Maximum lifespan is 19% higher.
% change in avg or median lifespan
Median lifespan is 15% higher.
Lifespan Effect
Increase
Genetic Manipulation
RNA interference
