- Symbol
- Rps6kb1
- Aliases
- S6K1; 70kDa; p70s6k; AA959758; AI256796; AI314060; p70/8
- Name
- ribosomal protein S6 kinase, polypeptide 1
- Organism
- Mus musculus (AnAge)
- Observations
- Deletion of ribosomal S6 protein kinase 1 (S6K1) induced gene expression patterns similar to those seen in caloric restriction and led to increased lifespan and resistance to age-related pathologies, such as bone, immune, motor dysfunction and loss of insulin sensitivity in female mice. No significant lifespan effect was observed in males.
- % change in avg or median lifespan
- Median female lifespan is 19% higher.
