Saccharomyces cerevisiaeGenAge entry for LAT1 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)

Gene information (ID: 400)

Symbol
LAT1
Aliases
ODP2; PDA2
Name
Dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase component (E2) of pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, which catalyzes
Organism
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (AnAge)
Known functions and activities
Dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase

Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing

Observations
Deletion abolished the lifespan extension conferred by calorie restriction. Overexpression extended mean lifespan by 20%, did not further extend lifespan under CR, and was not dependent on the Sir2 family. Overexpression also extended cell survival during prolonged culture at stationary phase.
% change in avg or median lifespan
Average lifespan is 20% higher.
