- Symbol
- Sirt7
- Name
- Sirtuin 7 (silent mating type information regulation 2, homolog) 7 (S. cerevisiae)
- Organism
- Mus musculus (AnAge)
- Observations
- No obvious phenotype was observed in heterozygous mutant Sirt7 animals, whereas homozygous mutants showed various signs of aging-related changes and died prematurely. Mutant mice developed kyphosis and lost subcutaneous fat early in life, and showed a general decrease in stress-resistance mechanisms. Mice develop heart hypertrophy and inflammatory cardiomyopathy. Sirt7 mutant hearts are also characterized by extensive fibrosis, leading to an increase in collagen III accumulation.
