- Symbol
- bmk-1
- Name
- Kinesin-like protein
- Organism
- Caenorhabditis elegans (AnAge)
- Observations
- Overexpression of bmk-1 in worms resulted in a 25% increase in lifespan and enhanced heat shock resistance. Downregulation of bmk-1 using RNAi resulted in a 32% decrease in lifespan. Hsp-16 was upregulated in response to bmk-1 overexpression, suggesting bmk-1 may protect cells from stress and inhibit apoptosis.
- % change in avg or median lifespan
- Median lifespan is 25% higher.
