This fungus appears to possess two forms, yeast and hyphal form, which have similar replicative lifespans. Additionally, /C. albicans/ could be considered a new model for the study of ageing, since it exhibits some phenotypes associated with ageing. Furthermore, old /C. albicans/ cells do not show any changed in telomere length and longevity extension can be achieved by calorie restriction [1445].
