These long-lived animals have been known to double brood, a behaviour where, during favourable seasons, the same pair attempts to brood two times in the same season. While usually this behaviour would be associated with an improvement in fitness at the cost of less longevity, models built around observations of these specimens have shown an extension in longevity in animals that attempt multiple broods over their lifetime [1373].
