- Flies were subjected to several control diets: sucrose only, yeast only and fixed diet. Flies were also subjected to a choice diet. JhI-21 mutants on a fixed diet showed a modest increase in lifespan of 13%. When JhI-21 mutants were aged in a choice environment there was a 32% increase in mean lifespan.
