GenDR Dietary Restriction Gene Manipulation: HXK2
Gene Information (Entrez Gene ID: 852639)
- Symbol
- HXK2
- Aliases
- HEX1 HKB SCI2
- Name
- HeXoKinase 2
- Organism
- Saccharomyces cerevisiae (AnAge)
- Entrez Gene ID
- 852639
Potential relevance to dietary restriction and ageing
- Observations
-
Deletion of HXK2 extends mean and maximum replicative lifespan by about 53% and 33%, respectively. Limiting glucose availability by mutating HXK2 significantly extends replicative lifespan and provides a genetic model of DR [2260]. HXK2 mutants have a transcriptional profile that significantly resembles DR cells [2274].
