In captivity, these animals can live over 16.1 years. There is one anecdotal report of an animal living more than 32 years in captivity but it remains unconfirmed [0669]. Likewise, it has been reported that these animals can live up to 37.9 years in captivity [0979], but this has not been verified; the same study reported that these animals can breed from about 2 years of age in captivity.
