Description: A highly conserved gene involved in in translation elongation, EIF5A2 has been associated with cancer [3403]. Its overexpression in mice results in accumulation of chromosomal instability and features resembling accelerated ageing, including a short lifespan, kyphosis, osteoporosis, delay of wound healing and ossification [3246]. Although further studies are needed, EIF5A2 might then play a role in human ageing.
