Mus musculusGenAge entry for Coq7 (Mus musculus)

Gene information (ID: 136)

Symbol
Coq7
Aliases
clk-1
Name
demethyl-Q 7
Organism
Mus musculus (AnAge)
Known functions and activities
Ubiquinone (coenzyme Q, CoQ) biosynthesis

Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing

Observations
Clk-1 deficient mice are embryonic lethal, however deficient mice transgenically expressing clk-1 (Tg96/I) live longer (on average 23% longer for males and 14% for females) and have smaller bodies than wild-type mice. The Tg96/I mice have CoQ levels equivalent to wild-type mice, exhibit reduced whole-body oxygen consumption during the dark period, and have lean leg skeletal muscles with reduced mitochondrial VO2 and ATP content compared with wild-type mice.
% change in max lifespan
Maximum lifespan is 20% higher in males and 12% higher in females.
% change in avg or median lifespan
Median lifespan is 23% higher in males and 14% higher in females.
