Drosophila melanogasterGenAge entry for Nmdmc (Drosophila melanogaster)

Gene information (ID: 2098)

Symbol
Nmdmc
Name
NAD-dependent methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase
Organism
Drosophila melanogaster (AnAge)

Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing

Observations
When Nmdmc was ubiquitously overexpressed in flies mean lifespan was increased. Specific expression of Nmdmc in the body abdominal fat led to an increase in lifespan of 23% in males and 14% in females. In addition the flies were found to be more resistant to various stresses including starvation, oxidation and heat.
% change in avg or median lifespan
Mean lifespan is 120% higher.
