Saccharomyces cerevisiae GenDR Dietary Restriction Gene Manipulation: SOD2

Gene Information (Entrez Gene ID: 856399)

Symbol
SOD2
Name
superoxide dismutase SOD2
Organism
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (AnAge)
Entrez Gene ID
856399

Potential relevance to dietary restriction and ageing

Observations

Yeast cells were subjected to dietary restriction (0.05% glucose compared to 2% glucose as a control). Deletion of SOD2 resulted in a 79% decrease in mean replicative lifespan compared to the control.
